What we can say
about the manuscript
The script has structure. Its meaning remains unknown.
VManus studies recurring forms, page and line effects, and possible interpretations of the Voynich manuscript. There are still no confirmed English or German words, no recovered clauses, and no identified language or cipher.
Four possible readings
The four-model comparison put four speculative models alongside one another. Each assigns eight whole-word meanings to the same selected text windows. None produces a confirmed paragraph or wins the comparison.
- Transformation
- Vapour becomes water. One guessed reading of f77r.35 resembles a statement about condensation.
- Flow
- Water passes through a basin. Different guesses produce an equally fluent sentence from the same line.
- Manual action
- Rub, press, and stroke. Repetitions can be read as sequences of actions, but the grammar remains unresolved.
- Physical network
- Inlets, outlets, and connected channels. No pictured endpoint has an independently identified word label.
These are deliberately competing hypotheses. Fluency and the number of substituted words are not evidence of a translation. The comparison contains 50 loci, 150 alternate transcription lines, and 1,157 groups. The three transcriptions are readings of one manuscript, not independent witnesses.
The latest correction
The latest grammar study tested two immediate attachment rules within the manual-action model. Both fail under their proposed grammatical types. That narrows two specific grammar proposals; it does not disprove the word guesses by themselves or every possible interpretation involving bodily treatment.
In particular, placing two groups next to each other does not prove that one must be the other’s grammatical complement. All four models remain unconfirmed.
Reading the sources carefully
Page hierarchy, line effects, recurring shells, and learned wholes remain part of the structural account. They do not supply a decoded part of speech. Alternate readings and uncertain group boundaries must be retained.
The earlier full-page transcription is a historical cleaned transcription. Later corrections warn that cleaning can introduce apparent spaces and split opaque glyph entities. The reading room preserves that table as an edition, rather than silently presenting it as a corrected master text.
Where to look next
The current attachment question needs independent evidence for a construction boundary or grammatical type. Adding another guessed noun or repeating the same neighbour test would not supply it.
