PushMe is an alerting service. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Data We Process

  • Account data: GitHub ID, name, and email (when available).
  • Alert data: the watches you create (the text you type and the derived matching fields).
  • Delivery data: email address you provide for alerts and your delivery preferences.
  • Push data: web push subscription endpoint and keys (used to deliver push notifications).
  • Usage and diagnostics: basic request logs (e.g., IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security and debugging.
  • Feedback: feedback you submit about alerts and general feedback messages.

Why We Process It

  • Provide the service (create watches, match events, and send push/email alerts).
  • Improve relevance and reduce false alarms using aggregated feedback signals.
  • Keep the service secure and reliable (abuse prevention, troubleshooting).

Legal Bases (GDPR)

  • Contract: to provide the alerting service you request.
  • Legitimate interests: to secure and operate the service, and to improve alert quality.
  • Consent: where required by your browser (web push permission) or for optional features.

Processors and Transfers

We use third-party providers to run PushMe. Depending on your location, your data may be processed outside the EEA.

  • GitHub OAuth (sign-in).
  • Email delivery provider (e.g., Mailgun) when you enable email alerts.
  • Push services operated by browser vendors (for web push delivery).
  • LLM provider (OpenAI) to generate watch fields and optionally verify matches.

Cookies and Local Storage

  • pushme_token is an essential cookie used to keep you signed in after GitHub login.
  • Your session token may also be stored in localStorage for API requests from the app UI.

Retention

We keep your account and alert data until you delete your account. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging.

Your Rights

  • Access: export your data from the app.
  • Deletion: delete your account from the app (this removes associated data).
  • Rectification: update your email and alert text in the app.
  • Objection/restriction: disable push/email delivery in Settings.

If you need help, send feedback in-app and include the words "privacy request".
